Lecture: Vertical Living in Timber - How to Design for the 21st Century
The discussion about tall timber is changing: as the industry is realising the potential for using wood in the 21st century, the conversation is shifting to how architects and engineers design with mass timber.
This lecture included an introduction to engineered timber in construction, followed by presentations from three important voices at the forefront of timber architecture. The speakers discussed how they use engineered wood in their buildings and research proposals; and how, in practical terms, other architects and engineers can start to add this revolutionary material to their own repertoire.
Speakers: Andrew Waugh, Waugh Thistleton Architects; Susan Jones, Atelier Jones; Robert Schmitz, White Arkitekter. Moderated by Eva Woode.
The event was organised as part of the Timber Rising exhibition and events programme in the spring of 2018. Read more about the exhibition here.
